Practice Drills: Building a Breakout Nations Style Country Scorecard
A drill course for macro investors who already know the Breakout Nations rules and now want to run them as a repeatable process. You will fix a country universe and a scoring date, translate each rule into an indicator with a threshold and a named source (IMF WEO, World Bank WDI, BIS, RBI, national statistics offices), pull and clean the data, convert indicators into scores and weight them honestly. Then you score the growth-engine rules (demographics, investment, manufacturing, politics, billionaires, the state) and the stress rules (inflation, currency, credit, current account, hype) across a panel of emerging markets, rank them on one sheet, back-test the scorecard on past breakouts and busts, and stress-test the ranking against alternative weights. The course closes with India: scoring it rule by rule, writing a watch list of the indicators most likely to move its score, translating country scores into an allocation through LRS, international feeder funds and Nifty proxies, and presenting and defending the finished scorecard.
